A website called “short of the week”, which has various short form documentaries about all different subjects, they are passionate about telling stories of any kind. You are even able to submit your own film to the website and they could publish it.
From how films are funded, produced, and ultimately consumed, online short films are paving the future of storytelling. Today, the most interesting stories aren’t being told in theaters or even on TV. They’re being told here on the web. This is where you find the storytellers who are breaking free from formulas, inventing new genres, and surprising the world with shocking new points of view. The next Spielberg, Tarantino, or Cuaron won’t be discovered at a film festival. They will first make their mark right here on the web.
For example, I found this video that I enjoyed watching, probably because it is close to home, in Maesteg. I love also love how they used subtitles because their welsh accents are so strong.
I like how up close and personal you get with Theodore, by being in his taxi car with him and his customers and seeing his home life. There are a lot of shots of the surrounding areas, of the beautiful scenery around which gives us a feel of what the community is like. It has a very sad tone but tells an important story of unemployment in Wales.
Another video I found was After Sophie, another short form documentary about a girl who killed herself. This is a topic which you would have to consider ethics in, you would have to approach the subject carefully, You cannot portray anything that isn’t true and be sensitive about it.
